Associate General Counsel

Position Title: Associate General Counsel
Location: Dubai, UAE
Job Highlights: The ABS group of companies is looking for an Associate General Counsel to be responsible for a broad range of legal services for its operating and parent companies. ABS provides satellite communications services to customers around the world from the ABS fleet of satellite and its network of ground facilities.

Reporting directly to the General Counsel, the Associate General Counsel will provide a broad range of legal guidance, consultation, and support to internal clients in all functions and departments of the ABS group of companies. The Associate General Counsel will be located in ABS’s principal office in Dubai, where the CEO and other key senior executives are based.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide broad range of legal support to the various ABS departments and functional areas located around the world, particularly in Dubai, USA and Asia.
  • Primary responsibility for Dubai corporate governance matters.
  • Draft and negotiate various documents in English, including commercial agreements and internal governance documents.
  • Support and as appropriate provide primary legal advice for business development and strategic transactions.
  • Coordinate closely with General Counsel and rest of ABS Legal team on ongoing projects.
  • Provide additional legal support on other business and corporate matters, including regulatory, real estate and employment matters.
  • Admitted to practice in a common-law jurisdiction (e.g., England & Wales, US, Australia, Canada) and have five to ten years of post-qualification experience.
  • Experience working at a major international law firm.
  • Experience working in a multinational company or other organization.
  • Experience in satellite communications or other telecommunications services sectors
  • Prior experience and a strong track record of advising clients on the full range of corporate transactions and matters, in particular commercial contracts, strategic transactions, corporate structure and governance, corporate policies and general business matters.
  • Experience negotiating business agreements.
  • Experience advising and working with clients and colleagues and clients in various locations and time zones around the world.
  • Excellent reading, writing and drafting skills in English. Other languages a plus but not a requirement.
  • Strong preference for candidates already in the UAE, but international candidates with the relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
