ABS-6 is located at geostationary orbit 159° East, covering the Pacific Ocean region and Northeast Asia. It features a payload of 28 C-band and 16 Ku-band transponders. Its extensive coverage brings affordable and reliable satellite connectivity to Northeast Asia and remote Pacific islands of underserved rural regions and to outlying islands.​

ABS-6 is a commercial Lockheed Martin A2100 AX satellite.​
